WORLD JAZZ
World Jazz celebrates a wide range of music originating from its New Orleans roots combining African rhythms, blues, ragtime, and spirituals to global manifestations where jazz is blended with regional rhythms, folk melodies, and cultural styles. Such variations that maintain jazz’s improvisational essence while embracing diverse cultural influences resulted in unique subgenres developed in Brazil, Cuba, Haiti, India, Japan, and parts of Europe. We embody and interpret this music through performances by top musicians, vocalists, and dancers from the U.S. and throughout the Western Hemisphere beginning with composers Duke Ellington, Thelonious, Monk, Miles Davis, and John Coltrane. This new series launching in 2027 is an expansion of what was formerly “West African Beats.”
