LATIN 2 PIANO
Latin 2 Piano is an annual concert founded on the rich music and cultural traditions of the Spanish-speaking islands of the Caribbean and Latin America. It celebrates the vibrant music of these regions from the evolution of colonial independence from Spain, Portugal, and Europe to the infusion of West African rhythms and the formation of Latin American classical music, Afro-Cuban jazz, and regional music of tango, rumba, and samba, which is the most influential rhythm style in world music today. Cervantes, Villa-Lobos, Lecuona, Ginastera, Piazzolla, Chucho Valdes, Dizzy Gilespie, Chick Correa, Tito Puente, Martin Bejerano, Manuel Valera, Chico O’Farrell, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and Irakere, among many others, are all part of this rich legacy.
