Music Monday | A Juilliard Reunion | October 19, 2026

With just 19 days until Nov. 7, our anniversary premiere is coming into focus, and it carries a Juilliard thread. Composer Adam Schoenberg and the Amernet String Quartet’s cellist, Jason Calloway, are both Juilliard-trained and know one another. On Nov. 7, that shared history comes full circle, as Calloway and the Amernet help bring Schoenberg’s new work to life.
The Amernet String Quartet, Artists in Residence at Florida International University, is one of today’s most admired ensembles, praised by The New York Times for its ’intelligence’ and ’immensely satisfying’ playing. Gold medalists in Tokyo and first-prize winners at Banff, they have performed across the Americas, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
On Nov. 7, the quartet joins guest bassist Paola García and pianists Glen Inanga and Rebeca Omordia to give the world premiere of Scene Study: A Love Story, Schoenberg’s new work for two pianos and string quintet, commissioned by Dranoff 2 Piano Fusion in memory of our founder, Loretta Dranoff.
A premiere has no recording yet, of course, so here is the Amernet in a different light, playing the Adagio cantabile from Beethoven’s Pathétique Sonata. On Nov. 7, they will give voice to music no one has heard before:
Join us on Nov. 7 to celebrate 40 years of two pianos
