Pianist Stephanie Ho grew up in Portland, Oregon, studied at Oberlin and Northwestern, and eventually landed at Baltimore’s Peabody Institute, where she met Israeli pianist Saar Ahuvia — who had trained at Tel Aviv Academy, studied in Switzerland, and crossed the Atlantic to pursue graduate studies with the legendary Leon Fleisher. The two became a duo, then a couple, and have been making music together ever since as Stephanie & Saar.
Praised for “visceral excitement, elegance and artistic vision,” the New York-based duo has performed at Lincoln Center, the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series in Chicago, and even the residence of the United States Ambassador in Berlin. They are also no strangers to Miami — having previously performed with Dranoff at the Adrienne Arsht Center and at The Moss Center.
On Saturday, July 11, they return for something altogether new: Summer Dances & Two Pianos, Dranoff’s landmark first-ever collaboration with Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami, presented by The Moss Center. Stephanie & Saar will perform live on stage alongside world-class dancers in an electrifying evening of contemporary ballet and two-piano music.
One of the pieces in the program is a movement from Alfonso Peduto’s Aftermath, originally commissioned as a dance piece and conceived as a musical journey through the five stages of grief.
